She wakes to her baby crying
She gets up
Puts on her robe,
And hurries to her
Beautiful future.
She rocks the tender baby to sleep,
Thinking of her only,
Whos lost in midst of gun-powder
And bloodshed far away.
She sleeps alone on the right side,
Looking to her side empty and cold,
She turns away from his spot,
Closes her eyes for sleep,
But only feels loneliness.
She opens her eyes and sees her love
She sighs, its only another illusion
Another dark night gone by
Day passes, no letters for a week
She begins to worry
Her baby rolls around the floor
Shed get down,
But shes already on the ground
She holds her precious tight
And look out to the sky
How long, she wonders
Her feet are cold
Her eyes a watery
Her arms are tired
Her heart is fainting
She turns again, thinking to face
Another illusion
Theres his handsome face
She closes her eyes and cries
Suddenly his hand is on her cheek
He smiles, a rugged smile
Shes shocked and cries again
His side is no longer lonely,
Their baby is alive and well,
The army wife is smiling.

I'm glad you enjoyed the poem and that you connect with it! My goal as a poet is just that: let my audience connect with what I write... So maybe that the person can find comfort within it because they also have the same feeling. ^^
Again, thanks for the fav
